Najah Attig, Ph.D.

 

Dr. Najah Attig is a Professor of Finance at Dalhousie University. He served two terms as Canada Research Chair in Finance and Corporate Governance.
Dr. Attig is an internationally recognized scholar and leading expert conducting research on important issues with a strong focus on linkages between corporate governance, corporate social responsibility, sustainability, ESG, shareholder and stakeholder value creation, corporate policies, financing frictions, and machine learning. He has also a particular interest in the corporate governance and capacity building of not-for-profit organizations.
Dr. Attig has produced an impressive stream of peer-reviewed articles with relevant practical implications in improving corporate governance practices, corporate capacity, and institutional environment in today’s complex and competitive economy.
Dr. Attig’s research is at the forefront of emerging research fields. It has been recognized through Best Paper Awards at scholarly conferences, the Toronto CFA Society Best Paper Award for Original Research on Canadian Capital Markets, and was twice awarded the Barclays Global Investors Canada Research Award. Despite his prodigious research output, Dr. Attig is able to maintain the creativity and innovation demanded by major academic journals. His scholarly achievement is evidenced by his many publications in Financial-Times (FT) list (an indication of quality) journals, including the Journal of Business Ethics, Contemporary Accounting Research, Journal of Banking and Finance, Financial Management, and the Journal of Corporate Finance. Dr. Attig holds a Ph.D. in Finance from Laval University (Quebec) and is fluent in English and French.

 

Dr. Gregory Nazaire is a professor of Finance at Dalhousie University. He is an active member of the black community in Halifax. Dr. Nazaire, with his work at the Black Business Initiative, has been heavily involved in the community and provided his expertise to various high social impact projects such as Hope Blooms, a youth-run social enterprise located in Halifax’s north end.
